It happened on the pantry wall this morning.
A simple thing really ... light, shadow and reflection ... except this sunshine,
coming directly through the east window at last,
means only one thing ~
the season is a'changing.
Happy May Day, everyone!

ReplyDeleteand this quote is stunning I will have to read this book!
We all need somebody to look at us. We can be divided into four categories according to thekind of look we wish to live under. The first category longs for the look of an infinite number of anonymous eyes, in other words, for the look of the public...
The second category is made up of people who have a vital need to be looked at by many known eyes. They are the tireless hosts of cocktail parties and dinners...
Then there is the third category, the category of people who need to be constantly before the eyes of the person they love. Their situation is as dangerous as the situation of people in the first category. One day the eyes of their beloved will close, and the room will go dark...
And finally there is the fourth category, the rarest, the category of people who live in the imaginary eyes of those who are not present. They are the dreamers."
~ Milan Kundera, from The Unbearable Lightness of Being
"Dream on ! Dream until your dreams come true!" to quote Steve Tyler of Aerosmith!

ReplyDeleteyes indeed, miz R, HAPPY MAY!!
Deletethe light at this time of year is a double edged sword for me ... portent with possibility and pre-migraine aura inducing. yin yang. end of beginning of. changing season indeed!
ReplyDeleteSo Jen, guess this means we have another thing in common ~ migraines. We're just a couple of messy bundles, aren't we? Good thing we have dogs to help maintain our sanity & our striving towards positivity. My furry lifeboat sure does an excellent job & I betcha Stella does too.
Deleteheh. go figure!
DeleteI think seeing so intensely causes our brains to short circuit which in turn triggers the migraine. or the aura. my sister had the same thing. we called'em sparkles. :)
and yes. furry lifeboats. xo
