Nothing like some good conversation...

23

I have some BIG news, Blogger folks, and I wanted to share it right away!

If you're like me, you've been envying our blogging compatriots over on Wordpress & Typepad
because their blogging platforms offered them "reply" buttons in their Comments section,
while those of using Blogger blogspots have been living in denial...

...well, guess what?

NOT ANYMORE!

Has this news just made your day?...because I feel like my entire blogging life has been transformed !
At last, I can have some good ole conversations with those of you who so kindly leave comments.
It was an easy change...the folks over on  Way2Blogging.org  spell it all out very clearly...
Here's how ~ click this link:
for the easy step-by step instructions.

You may note that their dashboard illustration looks a bit different from your own...for instance,
I did not have a  Settings>Other  as 4. stated,
and I found the "Allow Blog Feeds" spot under  Settings>Site Feed  instead.
All I had to sacrifice was my Comments pop-up window for Comments embedded in the body of the post instead,
 but heh, well worth it...

There is also a video tutorial in case you run into problems:

So go ahead, let's have ourselves a wee chin wag...
not quite as enjoyable as face-to-face, I know,
but a whole heck of a lot better than commenting into thin air, don't you think?!
I never quite got the hang of replying by private emails...(many of you don't provide an email link anyway)
so this
should fix everything  ;>}

    1. I'm in such a feverish dither about my new capacity for *conversation*, I may stay up all night waiting for folks to comment just so that I can "reply" in return!

    2. o this is fun. My brain hurts when I think about following your instructions into the belly of the beast but perhaps on a sunny day - not this rain-all-day-and-grey-to-boot-day of which I am in the middle.

    3. Hi Chadley! do not worry - it is waaay easier than it seems at first glance, pretty much just a two step process.
We had about 8 inches of snow out here, couldn't even get up my frozen solid driveway for a couple days. Now it's a balmy 40 and I can see all my weeds again :>/

    1. Hi Grace! yes, I remember when you left Blogger - I understood your reasons very well - and I have thought about leaving many times myself...but something about *here* feels very comfortable now. You are definitely right about being "present" and at this moment, I am welcoming that aspect of having conversations. And if it changes? Well, I can always change again, too, I suppose. For now, I a THRILLED. Thanks for your words.

    1. India, thank you ~ I think what happened for you is that when you changed templates, the default mode for commenting was set for "embedded" in the body of your post...which is what works for this magic "reply" function. For those of us who had previously chosen a pop-up window for comments (I think your previous template/background had this), well, we never saw the "reply" button that Blogger had (finally!) installed. Certainly old news for some, but NEW NEWS to me. That's why I went all ballistically happy over on your blog :>]

  7. Hooray, about time too! It's the main reason I left blogger, though I'm very happy at WP. Happy replying :-)

  8. One question, when you reply to my comment, do I get an email letting me know you replied? Or do I have to come back over here and physically check the thread?

    1. If you have clicked the "subcribe by email" under my post, you will get an email reply from me (or anyone else who chimes in). If you don't subscribe, you'd have to come back :>]]
